How was it done?

  1. Reconstruction of the top lid that was broken. After thorough cleaning and vacuuming, an anti-woodworm treatment was carried out.

  2. Wood filler was applied to all the holes made by the woodworm.

  3. Subsequently, the cracks were filled with small wooden splinters, cut to size with a chisel, until they were completely covered. To unify and level the surface, Modostuc wood paste was used, and then it was stained to match the tone of the rest of the furniture.

  4. For this purpose, it was necessary to sand the entire piece of furniture, strip it, and re-stain it. Once all the repairs had been completed and the stain applied, it was varnished with satin polyurethane varnish.

  5. A treatment of the interior of each of the drawers was also carried out, and two drawers that were out of square were realigned.

  6. In the desk area, the surface was cleaned, followed by sanding, while preserving the wood in its original tone. The wood was then varnished and the hardware was treated.

  7. Finally, the original garnet velvet, which was in very poor condition, was replaced with a new piece of velvet.
